Week 1 Blog 1
Starting a new project which involves creating music, recording foley's, and searching for sound effects by either creating or using a combination of sounds. Since I just love writing songs and using inspiration from other genres and creative artists. I decided to do a 12 bar blue standard and put just a little bit of me into the mix. The instrumental only goes for a minute and half, but long enough to fit into the video we are creating.
In this project l'm working with another two people, Phil and Alice. I recorded the instrumental last week with guitar, bass guitar, and a drum program. The guitar was double tracked (l recorded the guitar parts twice on seperate mono tracks) and then put the two together in a stereo track. If you are wondering if l recorded the guitar and bass guitar tracks to a click track, the answer is yes (l always do, so other players have a reference beat structure to go by). The next step was to find a drum shuffle sample which would suit my guitar and bass tracks l had just recorded.
The instrumental is called King Drac's Shuffle, as l can use the instrumental later on in another project I'm getting involved with.
In the last couple of recordings l experimented with just going into the DAW, but with this project l decided to experiment with some guitar pedals and see if l can achieve a better quality sound.
I recorded the guitar parts with a Fender Stratocaster and the bass guitar was a Fender Music Master.
The signal flow for guitar and bass guitar.
1 - Boss ME25 multi effect pedal
2 - Shark tuner
3 - Fishman Pro EQ Platinum
4 - E D B Direct Box (ID Box)
5 - Behringer Tube Ultragain Preamp
6 - Focusrite Scarlett 18i20
7 - Pro tools
The pic below shows the first stage of getting the memory locations sorted and the instrumental ready for some drums being recorded if required. I just notice the last note of the bass guitar need to be turned down.

I spent sometime on the submission parts to get ready for the online approval process.
