I decided to change the song tempo speed for our side project. The song is titled Foolish 'Ole Me. The song sounded a little slow and it needed to have the tempo going a fraction faster to give the feel of the song a little bit of a lift. At the moment you can see below in the tempo change window reading 106 BPM (Beats Per Minute) for every crotchet note (quarter note) and the meter timeline reads the time signature is 4/4. So to bring up the tempo change window, you double click on the red diamond symbol on the tempo timeline.

Now to be able to change the tempo of the song, there are a couple of changes in the DAW you need to do for preparation.

Here are the step by steps.

  1. Go to groups section at the bottom left side of your edit screen and click all. Make sure it is highlighted with a grey background. You also need to have the keyboard focus highlighted in yellow.

2. Once you have all the groups selected, go to the track application area and click on the timebase selector. Once you have clicked the timebase (sample) which is the hexagon shape in blue to the bottom left. Open the window and click on the ticks which is the metronome shape in green.

  • 3. The next step is to change the elastic audio plug-in selector by clicking on the dark grey shape which looks like a tiny Eiffel tower symbol, next to the blue hexagon symbol shape. Once you have opened up the selection window, click on polyphonic.

4. Now you are ready to change the tempo of the song through the tempo change window. To complete tempo change, a window will ask you to revert, cancel or commit. Hit commit. The tempo will now be changed from 106 BPM to 110 BPM, as Mr Conor Roberts says Happy Days.
