Not everyone is on the same page (week 6 Blog 1)
What a day for surprises, as we were going through our presentation this morning in class with our peers,( which isn't my strong point.) I forgot about adding parts of the song l had contributed, so l didn't mention it as part of my work in the presentation. (which l will have to amend and resubmit late this week.)
I started the presentation with slides and l talked about the guitar, vocals and how l wanted to do most of the song through the DAW as l think it is the future for record songs.
Voodoo (Phil) did his 2 minute talk on the research of sounds which he needed for his keyboard and organ sound. Voodoo explained about going back in time to find the right sounds.
Egor (Dec) had his 2 minute of talking and explaining the problems he had with the electronic drum kit, and how he could only record the kit in stereo and he couldn't seperate individually into seperate audio tracks.
Nym (Tom) hasn't summited his slides to me yet, but he assured me he would do this during the week. Well none of DRAX team had heard Nym's EDM parts for the song, let alone what he was going to do with the song, and boy did l get a surprise, as without team consultation he presented a completely different version of the song we had produced.
After the presentation we agreed we needed to do more work on the song.
We have all agreed to meet at the Neve studio which l booked for Friday. It's coming down to the wire for use to get the Blood Sucker song to having a good mix of old school rock with EDM. I'm looking forward to the end result.
The parts I forgot about
Sorting out the midi so we could us it properly in ProTools.
learning why Expand!2 wasn't working with the way it was set up.
Creating some ambience sounds through midi on two of the tracks.
Put effects in - like the wind noise and bells ringing on two tracks via midi again
Finding sound sample/foley's that we needed to give the song a different perspective.

I have realised that l need to learn more about EDM so l can understand a different thought process with mixing it to other music genres. After todays effort, I will be spending a couple of times a week getting used to Ableton and learning basic EDM. I really need to learn the basics of this genre style.
