The challenges of recreating the believable sound

ree

The challenges are to recreate audio sounds and dialog for a trailer, that will bring the trailer to life.

There are all different ways you can create a memorable trailer that will help you sell your movie through a two and a half minute advertising promotion for a film. The trailer is considered to be an art form of its own, and this can allow you to take creative control of the project in the interpretation of the film.

For this project, we are gathering into small groups to work on our own aesthetic audio view on how we feel the trailer should be viewed by the client or the public. The tools we will be using for the rebirth of the trailer are:

  • foleys

  • sound design

  • download samples

  • composition (we are allowed to create our own if we wish)

At the moment the group I'm in, currently consists of 2 members, Phil and myself (Roy)

So what does a good catchy trailer consist of?

Since l have no idea and never produced a trailer before, l thought it might be a good idea for me to do some research and see what different techniques or styles there are. I'm looking forward to having a go at creating a trailer that keeps the viewer wanting more.

A couple of the different ways to consider for trailer creativity

You can create your trailer so the music is running all the way through it, with samples and snippets of some key phasing from the movie dialog to spark potential audience interest into going to see the movie.

You could put the music in the background and add a narrator to speak with the movie dialog and add sound design effects to add dynamics. The art of keeping peoples attention for two minutes and thirty seconds is definately a creative challenge.

I personally looking forward to the challenge of creating a project trailer. The skills we are learning with this project will definitely help me personally for other projects.

We now have 2 additional team members on board (but this could grow!).

Here are some great YouTube interview clips below to have a look at.
