Monday Morning Logic Pro X (Week 3 Blog 1)

What an awesome day at SAE today, we started learning how to create some midi tracks on Logic Pro X, but first we learned how to setup Logic X DAW and then did some simple drum programming.

We learned how to access the tool box by pushing the letter T on the keyboard which is a short cut command to bring up your tool box selection quickly. Once we had the pencil icon, we used it in the editing window to write our drum track in the midi section. We also used a very tiny little instrument keyboard which is sinked to the DAW to enable a bass guitar sound, and then write that into the midi editing window by playing the instrument keyboard.

Dreaming of original songs

l woke up this morning with a song playing in my mind which l wrote a couple of years ago. At that time l didn't know how to write any midi drums for the song that would sound any good.

As l was waiting outside SAE this morning, l still had the song on high rotation in my mind as l'm drinking coffee and waiting for the doors to open. Finally l worked out that it needed to have a simple drum pattern and bass guitar. So after class and after a short meeting with some DRAX members, (which l will talk about in a sec). l raced home and started using what l learned today, to get this song on its way.

DRAX Update

I know l did talk a tiny bit about the DRAX project earlier, well we decided that if the song comes out ok, then we will probably try to do an EP at SAE and use it to put into our personal portfolio's to show what we can do as individuals, however since we are going to release the single, we might get the theatrical side happening and give ourselves some theatre stage names. So as of this moment we have agreed to use their stage names for DRAX at meetings just for some fun. DRAX members names and stage names are as follows:

Phil - Voodoo

Tom - Nym

Dec - Egor

(This should be a lot of fun)

We also talked about who was registered with APRA today. I have been a member since 1992 and the other members said they needed to join. So my fellow DRAX get your act together and join.
