Next week all the CIU330 projects have to be submitted, so now it’s the final push to the summit, and stick the B&W Audio flag on top of the mountain. Let’s recap a little of what the B&W Audio lads have done for this trimester 6.
We decided to do two projects. One main project along with a side project. The major project B&W Audio duo had committed to, was to record a Funk EP with all new original material that paid homage to the Funkmasters of old. That’s right (NO COVERS) Even though I have never played Funk music before, it was going to be one hell of a hoot to give it a go. Now my partner in time and crime for this project just loves Funk and Soul music, so it was beneficial to flick Voodoo some demos and get his approval on every song I wrote and make sure we would get close to the mark.
Once I started researching the Funkmasters of old, I quickly realized that I needed to be Funkified quickly. Then finding out that there are all sorts of Funk music to consider for this project, and some of the songs I liked were actually grounded ‘stooped silly’ in Funk royalty influences, for example, The Red-Hot Chili Peppers.
We only had a couple of months to get this project completed so during the extended trimester break (and because of COVID-19), I was frantically researching and started to quickly write some Funk compositions on the guitar. I wasn’t even thinking of the lyrics at this point of time, as I needed to get the feel and groove right and then ask Voodoo (Grand Master Funk) if they were OK for the project, and they passed the grade.
Now it’s time to start wrapping up the show for CIU330 and get the projects for the assessment.
