Learning Journal WEEK 12 – CIU330

Tying up the loose ends before trimester 6 is over. What a journey it has been to complete the Funk EP on time. Heaps of small little niggly problems accorded from DAW data transfer issues to just trying to keep on track of our weekly milestone mental planner. (Ok my trusty whiteboard.) Still trying to get used to the digital calendar that everyone uses and raves about, but I find it painful. This trimester I set up a plan on the whiteboard, but I ended up using the learning journal blogs as my guide to keep on track. Anyway, enough of that stuff.

I have learnt so much from this trimester about recording, mixing, and mastering. Guy, I bought all the plug-ins you suggested for mixing and mastering, and they worked a treat. Last trimester my mastering sounded compressed as I had the LUFS set to what they recommended online. This trimester I tried something new to see if I could elevate that problem. Thanks to your guidance and words of wisdom with mastering settings, I now have more of an idea of what the hell is going on. Thanks Guy.

It’s been a real pleasure working with Philadelphia Murefu on this Funk project. His musicianship skills are damn good (second to none). I used Phil as a sounding board to run my demos over with and always made sure to keep him up to date with everything I did. (to be sure to be sure) I used his talent as a measuring stick to keep up with. (the Funk Master of the groove.) Without Voodoo, the Funk EP would have sounded very very plain, and I’m damn lucky to have his skills on this project, like all the other projects we have completed before this project. Phil is easy going and takes any problems that occur without any fuss. (I still would’ve like to have his vocals on the Funk songs, maybe next time)

All the songs are now uploaded onto ‘CD Baby’ and waiting for approval by the powers to be. I’ve uploaded ‘still pic’ videos into my Vimeo site. This trimester is done and dusted, YEAH. Beer o’clock time, cheers!

Just Upload all songs to CD Baby and now its in the big world of streaming and downloads.
