Today I finished editing the rest of the sound effect. I learnt how to:
operate some of the operating plug-ins and the tools on the toolbar. At the moment, all I'm using is the amplify, noise reduction and the hard limiter effect applications.
The sound effect album is pretty old and it sounds like they just when to different venues or places and hit the record button. There is all this weird and wonderful background atmosphere mix in with the recordings.
I've been experimenting with the Audacity DAW and I noticed that if you have the noise suppressor too hard on the track when you use it, it sucks the vibe right out the track. I made a couple of mistakes as I was experimenting and had to redo a couple of the tracks. I tried different methods of editing to bring the tracks to life without killing too much of the atmosphere in the background.
This afternoon I uploaded an album titled Trick of The Light, by Mitch Dalton. A UK composer and guitarist. This album still had sound abnormalities with pops and scratches, but it was a little easier to edit.

The recording was done in 1984 so the record is pretty old. I couldn't get rid of all the pops and scratches but all the big annoying sounds to the ear have been edited out. I enjoyed doing this album because of the production, audio engineering and musicianship was of a high standard.
Decided the best way to approach the editing of tracks or songs, is to just edit the scratches and pops out the best I can, without using the noise reduction effect.
