1 Personal homework
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I’ve been doing some of the homework task exercises that are in the weekly folders. I’ve enjoyed having a go at some of these little challenges and have been using the exercises to give me more of an insight into this module.
With the nursery rhyme Twinkle Twinkle Little Star that I transcribed into Pro Tools DAW, I've been learning more about the midi edit and score windows that are available to monitor my work. By learning to use these different window applications, means I know can cross-reference my work quicker, as well as increase my overall workflow.

By completing some of the homework tasks exercises, I have gained a better understanding about Pro Tools and its midi and score capabilities. This was really helpful for project 1 as I can now put this additional midi knowledge into project 2 and keep learning and mastering midi and its different window applications into audio engineering and song compositions.
I set up a folder for homework task also.

2 EarMaster
I’m currently going through the Mastery Tests. I find these exercises really challenging. I’ve learned that I have to keep my aural skills up to scratch to sharpen my critical listening skills. It will also help with analyzing material quicker, along with keeping my audio ear at peak performance.

3 Project 2
I’m going to explore a simple little jazz progression for Project 2. The reason why I’m going to use a jazz turnaround is because Jazz chords can be very expressive when it comes to chord voicing (and jammed pack full of emotion). Once again, I’m challenging myself to get out of the comfort zone and create with the basics of another genre. I don’t know how good it will be, but it will give me a chance to incorporate project 1’s midi knowledge and utilize what I have learned so far.
The jazz progression I am using are l – Vl – II – V for part of the composition. The narrative for the song will be to give the listener the feeling of being happy, (and also be an uplifting little diddy). It will be a challenge to pull it off, but I am looking forward to creating a little happy, ‘take your troubles’ away composition.
I’ve been trying to find a couple of reference songs for my idea. At the moment I’m struggling to pinpoint a couple of reference songs to use, that will give the listener (my colleagues) an idea of what I have created in my mind.
